My Day: Book Launch

I had other things to do today, so exhibitions to go see for the Loreal Fashion Festival but as I was leaving the unit I saw on facebook that there was a book launch scheduled for today at All Star Comics.
Now I had never set foot in All Star Comics before, I've only been in this city for 4 weeks after all, but I thought why not? I'm going to be in the city anyways.
So I browsed the exhibition at Federation Square and even bought some books at the Book Market then headed on over to All Star Comics.
Now at first I went the wrong way, misreading my writing and headed towards 40 instead of 410 Lonsdale street. This only lost me around 15 mins and I still waited around as some people were running late for the launch.
While waiting around in the store one of the staff brought these delicious mini cupcakes around for us all to enjoy. One of the other staff members apparently made them and THEY WERE GOOD, SO GOOD!
Red Velvet Mini Cupcake with the store logo on it.
Mud Choc Mini Cupcake with Madman logo on it.
I also took the opportunity to purchase the launched book and another comic I had been looking for.
A fair while later it begain...
You see this particular comic book is being made into an animation series - Cool huh?
So the writer Tom Taylor stood up and talked about the series and why he made this particular comic and how his kids were the inspiration for doing it.
Then he told us what he could about the animation series that is still in production and then we watched a short teaser trailer.
Very promising.
Now I love anything a bit quirky and within that 2 mins or so short I could tell the quirk in this series is gonna be the fish!
WATCH THE FISH!
Then the artist James Brouwer stood up and spoke to us (semi-willing) about the production process and the costume design of the series vs the book.
Then the signing begain... well after some markers were found for them to sign with.
James on the left and Tom on the right.
There were a film crew there during the whole event, filming a documentry.
I did a very brief interview after I got my book signed.
All in all it was a good time to be had and the cupcakes were devine and the cartoon should by all accounts be a success.
